The use of an intimate shower with water enables gentle and comfortable cleaning of the intimate zone and avoids irritation and allergies caused by wiping with toilet paper or wet wipes. Especially after childbirth, it is important to keep birth injuries, such as after a perineal tear or (rare) episiotomy, free of germs and to support the healing process. Postpartum flow can be removed more effectively and gently by a portable bidet than by toilet paper, which is why midwives have long advised this form of intimate cleansing.
